Moscow on the Hudson

Robin Williams starring as a soviet refugee.

Ceize the day

Drama. I would call it "Despair". Yellow american dandies playing on Wall Street are deaf towards the pitiful fate of an ordinary guy (Robin Williams).

In the inner circle

Drama about an ordinary russian man who became a film technician in Kremlin. Very powerful. Starring the same actor that played Mozart in "Amadeus". By Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky.

Green card

Pleasant film with Depardieu playing refugee who wants to get green card by marriage.

Zentropa

Black-white film about Germany after the war. By Von Trier.

Dead poets society

Robin Williams starring as a literature teacher in some priveleged school.

With the eyes wide open

The last film of Kubrik.

The best of 1990-th

Blue/White/Red

Trilogy by Kiezlowski. Superb.

Pulp Fiction

When I was watching it, I was surprised and fascinated. Later on I realized that I liked it. Very stylish. Very unusual. Music and dialogs are superb. Great acting.

The Usual Suspects

One of the best gang movies I've seen. Extraordinary story, hard-to-predict ending, great acting. With Kevin Spacey.

Seven

To describe it in few words: cops, maniac killer, no happy end. Behind all this, slightly exhagerated message that America is sick and wicked. There is no place for normal human life in this society. People are struggling desperately for survival. Some drawbacks to the religeous representation of devil and people trying to resist him. Besides, very impressive presentation of the phenomenon of vengeance. With Kevin Spacey.

Forget Paris

The comedy of a good taste, beyond american standards.

Get shorty

Comedy. Some people think it is trite and stupid, but it makes people to laugh anyway. I like it. It's about Hollywood.

To Die For

Comedy. Americans laughing on themselves. Cute ending.

Forest Gump

Comedy about a man with oversimplified personality.

Piano

Love story. Sensitive, emotional etc.

Pure Formality

This film has no rival. Beyond any words. Starring Depardieu and Polansky. In French with English subtitles.

Rumble in the Bronx

Starring Jackie Chan. Excellent comedy with plenty of karate. Very funny.

Star maker

Italian film. Outstanding work. Very talented, deep, sensitive, funny. Something like that you haven't seen for ages and will not see for ages. To be honest, it's my favorite film.

English Patient

Terrific. Deep. Acting, screenplay, everything.

Fifth element

Mixture of science fiction and comedy with good actors.

Breaking the waves

Very powerful. By Von Trier. Starring Emily Watson, the most talented actress of our time.

Stealing beauty

Bertolucci.

Over the clouds

Bertolucci.

People against Larry Flint

By Forman. Larry Flint is an open-minded loving freedom american guy who is in charge of sex-magazine. He is shocking America.

Big Lebowski

American black humor comedy. Outstanding.

High Art

Work of a good taste from New York

Lock Stock and two smoking barrels

Stylish English film, mixture of "Transpotting" and "Pulp fiction"

Black cat, white cat

Kustoriza's last film about village mafia in Yugoslavia. Lough to tears.

Life is beautiful

Benini's comedy, turning into drama. Serious and funny.

Matrix

Science-fiction, virtual reality with elements of martial arts and eastern philosophy. Very succeessful. Outstanding screenplay. More than 400 special effects.

Lolita

Extremely succeessful film made after famous Nabokov's book.

Desperado

The only succeessful film starring Antonio Banderas. Try to count the number of bullets shut for 1 and half hours.

Payback

Good tense action.

Rush hour

With Jackie Chan.

American beauty

With Kevin Spacey. Very good comedy, I'd say rather a drama with good humor, great acting, excellent screenplay. Like "Forest Gump".

The five senses

Serious, deep, touching, enjoyful movie. One out of 1000.

The 9th gate

By Roman Polansky. Mysterious. Unusual. Interesting acting.

The Luzhin defence

After the novel of Nabokov. Starring Emily Watson, the most talented actress of our time ("Breaking the waves"). Superb acting, deep, touching.
